Syllogism is pure logic: you are given statements you must accept as true (even if they sound absurd in real life), and you decide which conclusions definitely follow. The safest method is to draw Venn diagrams. THE FOUR STATEMENT TYPES • All A are B → circle A sits fully inside circle B. • Some A are B → the two circles overlap. • No A is B → two separate circles, no touching. • Some A are not B → part of A is outside B. THE GOLDEN RULE A conclusion is true only if it holds in EVERY possible diagram you can legally draw. If you can draw even one valid diagram where the conclusion fails, it does NOT follow. QUICK DEDUCTIONS • All + All → All (All A are B, All B are C ⇒ All A are C). • All + No → No (All A are B, No B is C ⇒ No A is C). • Some + All → Some (Some A are B, All B are C ⇒ Some A are C). • Some + No → Some are not. • Two "Some" statements alone give NO definite conclusion. SOLVED EXAMPLE Statements: All pens are books. Some books are red. Conclusion I: Some pens are red. Conclusion II: Some books are pens. Check II first — All pens are books means every pen is a book, so "some books are pens" must be true ✓. For I, the red books may or may not include the pens, so it is not certain ✗. Answer: only II follows. POSSIBILITY QUESTIONS "Some A being B is a possibility" is true if you can draw at least one valid diagram where it happens. Here you only need one supporting case, not every case. Draw, don't guess. Practise Syllogism sets on Govt Exam Center to make the diagrams instant.

त्वरित निगमन • All + All → All (सभी A, B हैं; सभी B, C हैं ⇒ सभी A, C हैं)। • All + No → No (सभी A, B हैं; कोई B, C नहीं ⇒ कोई A, C नहीं)। • Some + All → Some (कुछ A, B हैं; सभी B, C हैं ⇒ कुछ A, C हैं)। • Some + No → कुछ नहीं हैं।
