Order & Ranking is one of the quickest reasoning topics once you know one formula.
THE KEY FORMULA
• If a person is L from the left and R from the right in a row, the total number of people = L + R − 1.
• (We subtract 1 because the person is counted twice — once from each side.)
• To find someone's position from the other end: position from right = (Total − position from left) + 1.
CLASS RANK
• Rank from top + Rank from bottom = Total students + 1.
SOLVED EXAMPLES
1) In a row, Ravi is 7th from the left and 12th from the right. Total people?
= 7 + 12 − 1 = 18.
2) In a class of 40, Sita ranks 15th from the top. Her rank from the bottom?
= 40 − 15 + 1 = 26th.
3) If there are 30 people and a person is 10th from the left, his position from the right = 30 − 10 + 1 = 21st.
EXAM ANGLE: Watch the "+1" carefully — forgetting it is the most common mistake. Draw a quick line if a puzzle mixes several people.

• यदि कोई व्यक्ति पंक्ति में बाएँ से L एवं दाएँ से R है, तो कुल लोग = L + R − 1।
