REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers) Syllabus 2026

REET is a state-level teacher eligibility test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER), Ajmer. It is a qualifying exam — clearing it earns an eligibility certificate; actual teacher selection happens later through the REET Mains recruitment exam held by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). The pattern below applies from the REET 2024-25 cycle (exam held 27-28 February 2025).

EXAM STRUCTURE

- Two separate papers: Level 1 (Primary Teacher, Classes 1-5) and Level 2 (Upper Primary Teacher, Classes 6-8)

- Candidates can appear for one level or both (papers are held in separate shifts)

- Mode — offline, OMR-based (pen and paper)

- 150 multiple-choice questions per level, 150 marks, 1 mark each

- Duration — 2 hours 30 minutes per level

- Each question now carries FIVE options instead of four

LEVEL 1 (Classes 1-5)

- Child Development and Pedagogy — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Language I — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Language II — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Mathematics — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Environmental Studies — 30 questions, 30 marks

LEVEL 2 (Classes 6-8)

- Child Development and Pedagogy — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Language I — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Language II — 30 questions, 30 marks

- Mathematics and Science OR Social Studies (as per subject) — 60 questions, 60 marks

Language I and Language II can be chosen from Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi and Gujarati (Language I and II must be different).

MARKING SCHEME (introduced in REET 2024-25)

- Correct answer — +1 mark

- Wrong answer — 0 (no negative marking for wrong answers)

- Question left completely blank — minus 1/3 mark; if you do not want to attempt a question you MUST fill the fifth option on the OMR

- Leaving more than 10% of questions without any option filled can make the candidate ineligible/disqualified

QUALIFYING MARKS

- General — 60%

- SC / OBC / MBC / EWS — 55%

- ST — 55% (non-TSP area), 36% (TSP area)

- Widow / divorced women / ex-servicemen — 50%

- Persons with Disabilities — 40%

- Sahariya tribe — 36%

Qualifying only makes you eligible; final selection depends on REET Mains merit and vacancies.

The REET eligibility certificate is valid for lifetime.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PEDAGOGY (30 Q)

- Concept of growth and development, principles and dimensions of development

- Role of heredity and environment

- Theories of learning — Behaviourism, Gestalt, Cognitivism, Constructivism — and their implications for teaching

- Individual differences — meaning, types and factors

- Personality — concept, types and assessment

- Intelligence — concept, theories and measurement

- Diverse learners — gifted, backward, specially-abled, disadvantaged

- Adjustment — concept, mechanisms; role of the teacher

- Teaching-learning process; learning per NCF 2005

- Assessment, continuous and comprehensive evaluation; action research

LANGUAGE I AND LANGUAGE II (30 Q each; options: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Gujarati)

- Hindi — unseen passage; tatsam, tadbhav and deshaj words; synonyms and antonyms; grammar based on unseen text; sentence construction; methods of language teaching; language skills and assessment

- English — unseen prose passage; synonyms, antonyms, spellings; parts of speech; tenses; active and passive voice; narration; basic phonetics; principles and methods of English language teaching; teaching-learning materials and evaluation

MATHEMATICS (30 Q)

- Indices and their laws

- Algebraic expressions, factorisation, simple equations

- Squares, square roots, cubes, cube roots

- Percentage, ratio and proportion, profit-loss, simple and compound interest

- Lines and angles; plane figures — triangles, quadrilaterals, circles

- Area and perimeter of plane figures; surface area and volume

- Statistics — data handling, graphs; probability

- Mathematics pedagogy — nature of mathematics, teaching methods, evaluation, diagnostic and remedial teaching

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (30 Q)

- Family and society; clothes and habitat; professions and occupations

- Public places and institutions; local self-government

- Our culture and civilisation with focus on Rajasthan — fairs, festivals, dresses, art

- Transport and communication

- Personal hygiene, health and diseases

- Living beings — plants and animals around us

- Water — sources, conservation

- Earth and space — solar system; matter and energy basics

- EVS pedagogy — concept and significance of EVS, teaching methods, activities and experiments, evaluation

LEVEL 2 (CLASSES 6-8)

CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PEDAGOGY (30 Q)

- Same broad areas as Level 1, focused on the upper-primary (adolescent) learner

LANGUAGE I AND LANGUAGE II (30 Q each)

- Same language options as Level 1 with higher-level text comprehension, grammar and pedagogy of language teaching for Classes 6-8

MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE (60 Q — for Maths-Science stream)

- Mathematics — indices, algebraic expressions and factorisation, linear equations, percentage, ratio, profit-loss, interest, lines and angles, plane figures, area, surface area and volume, statistics and graphs, probability, pedagogy

- Science — micro-organisms; living and non-living; plants and animals; human body and health; reproduction in plants, animals and humans; force and motion; heat; light and sound; electricity and magnetism; structure of matter; chemical substances; science and technology in daily life; solar system; science pedagogy — methods, innovation, evaluation

SOCIAL STUDIES (60 Q — for Social Studies stream)

- History — Indian civilisation and culture from ancient to modern period; freedom movement

- Civics — Indian Constitution and democracy; government — union, state and local; judiciary

- Geography — Earth and our environment; resources and development of India; geography of Rajasthan

- Rajasthan — history, art and culture

- Economy basics — banking and insurance systems
