REET is a state-level teacher eligibility test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER), Ajmer. It is a qualifying exam — clearing it earns an eligibility certificate; actual teacher selection happens later through the REET Mains recruitment exam held by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). The pattern below applies from the REET 2024-25 cycle (exam held 27-28 February 2025). EXAM STRUCTURE - Two separate papers: Level 1 (Primary Teacher, Classes 1-5) and Level 2 (Upper Primary Teacher, Classes 6-8) - Candidates can appear for one level or both (papers are held in separate shifts) - Mode — offline, OMR-based (pen and paper) - 150 multiple-choice questions per level, 150 marks, 1 mark each - Duration — 2 hours 30 minutes per level - Each question now carries FIVE options instead of four LEVEL 1 (Classes 1-5) - Child Development and Pedagogy — 30 questions, 30 marks - Language I — 30 questions, 30 marks - Language II — 30 questions, 30 marks - Mathematics — 30 questions, 30 marks - Environmental Studies — 30 questions, 30 marks LEVEL 2 (Classes 6-8) - Child Development and Pedagogy — 30 questions, 30 marks - Language I — 30 questions, 30 marks - Language II — 30 questions, 30 marks - Mathematics and Science OR Social Studies (as per subject) — 60 questions, 60 marks Language I and Language II can be chosen from Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi and Gujarati (Language I and II must be different). MARKING SCHEME (introduced in REET 2024-25) - Correct answer — +1 mark - Wrong answer — 0 (no negative marking for wrong answers) - Question left completely blank — minus 1/3 mark; if you do not want to attempt a question you MUST fill the fifth option on the OMR - Leaving more than 10% of questions without any option filled can make the candidate ineligible/disqualified QUALIFYING MARKS - General — 60% - SC / OBC / MBC / EWS — 55% - ST — 55% (non-TSP area), 36% (TSP area) - Widow / divorced women / ex-servicemen — 50% - Persons with Disabilities — 40% - Sahariya tribe — 36% Qualifying only makes you eligible; final selection depends on REET Mains merit and vacancies. CERTIFICATE VALIDITY The REET eligibility certificate is valid for lifetime.
